Mercury Counter is an electronic album inspired by the 1950 film “D.O.A.” In it, Frank Bigelow, a small-town accountant, is poisoned on a trip to San Francisco and spends his final days tracking down who killed him and why. This early American noir film was sold as “a picture as excitingly different as its title,” and that was my goal in reimagining this story.
Production of Mercury Counter was made possible by a wonderful group of Kickstarter backers. Their contributions allowed the album to be mastered professionally and released under Creative Commons. A run of merchandise was also manufactured as rewards. For the full backer list, visit the official Mercury Counter page on NESHCOMPLEX.com.
